Welcome to John Pirie Secondary School

John Pirie Secondary School is a leader in developing flexible learning programs to meet the needs of all students  Through our commitment to continuous improvement, we strive to build on the excellent programs offered to make our school one that is widely recognised for quality student learning and wellbeing outcomes. Our staff team are talented educators who care deeply about young people, develop positive relationships with them and personalise learning programs.

We are committed to our school vision of ‘Building Better Futures’ through supporting all young people. Our staff understand that this means we must:

  • Foster the development of knowledgeable, literate and numerate young people
  • Build capacity in youth to be powerful and effective learners who are able to communicate, problem solve, research and have the confidence to persist in their learning when it is challenging
  • Promote the development of social capabilities that enable young people to respectfully and responsibly participate in and contribute to society.

Our school qualities of Respect, Responsibility, Confidence and Persistence provide an excellent framework to live by, in and out of school, for all members of our school community. These qualities underpin our Characteristics of an Effective Learner resource which guides our young people to develop as effective and skilled learners.

In addition to a broad range of curriculum offerings at all year levels, our students have access to a wide of alternative programs. These include Flexible Learning Options, South Australian Aboriginal Sports Training Academy, vocational education, school-based apprenticeships and traineeships as well as Soccer and Dance Academies.

Connections with a wide range of local industries and training organisations ensures students are provided with a comprehensive career education program and opportunities to explore varied post school pathways.

Our school has recently undergone major redevelopment, including new STEM, Middle School, Technologies and Performing Arts facilities. These upgrades provide our students with innovative learning spaces which facilitate modern teaching and learning practices across the school.

We look forward to working with you to provide the best educational and wellbeing outcomes for your child.
